Dallas DNA Exonerations

Dallas County leads the country in sexual assault convictions that were based on false eyewitness identification and have been overturned through DNA testing.  This fact has changed the way Dallas investigates and prosecutes these cases.

The Conference on Crimes Against Women will host workshops taught by prosecutors from the Dallas Country District Attorney's Office detailing the work of its Conviction Integrity Unit established in 2007 to review old questionable convictions.  Each of the wrongful and overturned convictions will be reviewed along with the lessons learned in each case.  Officers from the Dallas Police Department will also teach classes explaining the changes made to its line up and suspect identification procedures as a result of these recent exonerations.
