Crime Victims Institute and the College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University

The Crime Victims’ Institute is a state-appropriated research unit whose legislative mandate is to serve victims in Texas by conducting research to better understand victimization, improve victim services, assist crime victims, and inform local- and state-level policy. Sam Houston State University is also home to the nation’s first Department of Victim Studies under the College of Criminal Justice. In addition to the work already being done in the Criminal Justice and Criminology department, the Department of Victim Studies will continue the commitment in advancing research on victimization issues in Texas and training the next generation of professionals.

Institute for Coordinated Community Response

Institute for Coordinated Community Response provides a full year of training, resources, networking opportunities, and technical assistance for rural, under resourced Texas counties who are motivated to improve their systemic response to domestic violence through the creation of a Coordinated Community Responses.
