Genesis Women’s Shelter and the Conference on Crimes Against Women are saddened by the announcement of the passing of Dallas Police Department’s Lieutenant Bill Walsh (Ret.) after a long health battle.

While in the Youth and Family Division of Dallas Police Department, Lt. Walsh worked hand in hand with Genesis fighting family violence. He was also the driving force behind the partnership between Dallas Police, the FBI, and Genesis to establish the internationally recognized Conference on Crimes Against Women. As a result of this conference, tens of thousands of advocates, law enforcement, prosecutorial professionals, and other responders have received the highest level of training on the best practices to hold perpetrators accountable and bring justice to survivors of all violence against women.

The Conference on Crimes Against Women is indebted to Lt. Walsh for his vision and his leadership. This cutting-edge training and professional knowledge has created a forum for thought leaders both nationally and internationally, literally changing communities’ response to violence against women.

“Bill’s vision, passion and extensive connections in the law enforcement community helped create and build the Conference on Crimes Against Women to be the premier conference for law enforcement, advocates and prosecutors that it is today. We will miss Bill but will be forever grateful for his relentless efforts to make this world a better place for our most vulnerable.”
